GRAEME HARRIS AWARD
This award is not one that we call for nominations. It is a special award that is bestowed on an individual, businesses or group for what we believe is an extra-ordinary achievement.
This year we are bestowing this award on two organizations.
The Swan City Youth Service for their outstanding efforts in working with the disadvantaged and disenfranchised youth of our community. The Swan City Youth Centre provides programs to support and assist these young people to gain confidence in themselves and the life skills we all take for granted. Successful partnerships have been formed with health professionals, training institutions and others in providing these programs. The recognition we give tonight will validate the services they provide and provide a huge boost to the staff and volunteers.
Ballajura Community College Memorial and Peace Park was a community effort involving the College and the local community as a place to celebrate our cultural heritage and gather as a community. The partnership of government, community, the RSL, business and private benefactors in creating this feature for the College has also provided a significant community asset where heritage is valued and preserved in harmony with modern lifestyles and appropriate cultural, economic and social opportunities.
