Glamour and Glitz to Celebrate the Winners

The theme for the Hanson Swan Business Awards for 2005 was “Glamour and Glitz” and the awards committee really did this with style.

Guests were greeted at the magnificent Midland Town hall with a display of gold lama, lights, silhouetted dancers and balloons, balloons and more balloons. There were balloons in the foyer, balloons up the stairs, balloons around the hall and balloons all over the stage.  These balloons were courtesy of Swan Hills Party Hire

A “living statute” straight from the Renaissance gym welcomed the fascinated guests when they entered the hall after pre-dinner drinks and loitered around the MC during the evening. As actual statue of the very glamorous Betty Boop ( a resident of Men’s Bitz), also draped with gold lama, was the focal point of the stage and the perfect “stooge” for the floorshow of great old classics performed by Perth’s foremost crooner, Brett.

The menu, which sported dishes such as “Rev it up red wine lamb” and  “Fireblade roasted chicken served with Goldwing brandy cream sauce” was sponsored by non other than The Honda Shop. The prize for the most glamorous couple was awarded to Allen and Louise Cannell although everyone excelled themselves on the night with the ladies in sequins, furs and fabulous gowns, and the men resplendent in vivid coloured ties to enhance the tuxes.

The “key raffle” of  four tickets to the Spirit of The West restaurant Train heritage observation carriage valued at $1200 was won by Umi Nursihati who was also the winner of the public competition to nominate the business that gives the best customer service.  The business they nominated was Ellenbrook East Post Offices that was also chosen for this category by the Awards judging panel.

The awards presentation culminated with a grand finale of all winners being showered with more balloons, tinsel, streamers and confetti.  A fitting ending to a gala event.
