Re:  Advocating for a Rail service to Bullsbrook

I find it inconceivable that the collective powers to be are not using the existing Geraldton railway line to serve both passengers and freight.

Working examples of such initiatives exist within Australia already, demonstrated in Byron Bay NSW, where a train is used for tourism purposes. These solutions exist internationally as well, illustrated by the use of a diesel passenger train operating between Pretoria and Capetown.

I believe at this point in time, a diesel train that operates between Bullsbrook and Midland can simultaneously service both passengers travelling between the suburbs and tourism locations along the route.

Stations located in Bullsbrook, Upper Swan, Herne Hill, Stratton and Jane Brook could be constructed efficiently as transportable colonial style buildings, with an estimated cost of $500,000 each. Further, parking at each of these stations simply can consist of compacted gravel, of which suffices for current demand.

Upon the completion of the Morley-Ellenbrook line, there is potential to upgrade the eastern side and connect it to the new train line. The eastern residents are being neglected by the Government and Transport Authorities. All those residing east of the Swan River should have access via train lines to Midland and then into the CBD.

I call on all businesses and residents in the Swan Region, and surrounding to share and voice your need for the aforementioned train line. We should be able to access our local shopping centres, hospitals, medical facilities, education institutions and work in the Midland area and beyond without being hindered by bureaucratic processes.

A basic diesel train service will suffice until further budget is approved for the upgrade to an electric line. We estimate the cost at $30m being more than sufficient with the use of existing Australind stock.

Please let us know your thoughts and contact us if you would like further information.

Yours sincerely,
